What Mina is
Mina is a private app for keeping memories with the people you choose. Nothing you add is public.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, and if you use it, your Sign in with Apple identifier. A profile photo if you add one.
- Your birthday, if you add it. Others in your spaces see only the day and month, never the year, and only while “Show it in my spaces” is on.
- What you add: photos, videos, voice memos, memories, letters, check-ins, jar ideas, lists, dates and museum answers.
- Membership: which spaces you belong to and your role in each, and who you blocked.
- Your device: a push notification token, the time zone your phone is set to (so notifications arrive at a sensible hour) and when you last opened the app.
- Your notification choices and when we sent you a notification, so we never send too many.
- Reports you make about content or people, so our team can act on them.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, or anything about you from other apps.
Who can see it
Only members of the space you add something to. A letter written to one person is visible only to that person and its author. When you block someone, you stop seeing what they add and they can no longer invite you or notify you. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your content to train AI models.
The home screen widget
If you add Mina's widget, the app saves what it shows (for example one photo and a countdown) on your phone only, so the widget works without the internet.
Where it is stored, and who helps us
- Account and text data: a Postgres database (Neon).
- Photos, videos and voice memos: a private Cloudflare R2 bucket, viewable only through links that expire within an hour.
- The app's servers: Vercel. Scheduled reminders: Cloudflare.
- Notifications: Expo's push service and Apple.
- Emails (confirming your address, resetting your password): Resend.
Leaving and deleting
If you leave a space, what you added stays with that space, because it belongs to the shared story. Before leaving you can download a copy of everything you added. A space with no members left is deleted 30 days later.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (the gear on the home screen, then Delete my account) or by contacting us. You choose whether your memories stay in shared spaces without your name, or are deleted. Your account, sessions, devices, blocks and reports are deleted right away, and if you used Sign in with Apple we tell Apple to end Mina's access. Records of notifications we sent are kept for 35 days.
Children
Mina is for people 13 and older.
